Sport is fundamental to the early development of a child. It teaches young kids important lessons about a number of key values, each of which can influence them throughout their entire lives. Here are a few things that children can learn from playing sports:
Discipline
Sports can teach a child discipline while they participate in an activity they really enjoy. They need discipline to learn the different skills that are required and will soon come to learn that without this they often won’t be able to enjoy the sweet taste of success.
Teamwork
When your child grows up they will no doubt at one stage participate in a group environment that will require teamwork. At Kiddikicks they learn that by working together as a part of a group, things can be accomplished far easier than if they tried to do it alone. This is a very important life skill!
Hard Work
Sports teach children that they need to work hard in order to improve. They learn that even if they don’t possess the natural athletic talent, they can achieve a lot when they put their minds to it. Plus, they soon realise that regardless of natural talent, if they don’t work hard they won’t be as successful as their peers.
Practice Makes Perfect
The idea of putting in the necessary time to be able to do a task well is another key lesson for children. Sports teach children the need to prepare themselves for possible success, and that they can experience the joy of victory only if they are willing to put in the effort and practice.
Overcoming Adversity
Sports help children learn how to overcome adversity and setbacks that life will naturally throw at them. They learn the mentality that is needed to conquer different hurdles as they strive for their goals. Understanding how to overcome adversity is a skill that will undoubtedly serve them well for the rest of their lives.
At Kiddikicks, we focus on skill development and participation using encouragement and positive coaching. We are not aiming for perfection or using pressure to achieve it, we want to help children be the best they can be through practice and effort in a super fun environment.
