Kiddikicks Parks of Fame: Kings Field Park, Hampton Wick - Kingston Upon Thames

At Kiddikicks Lifestyle we write about things which have worked for our family. We're currently a family of 5, a nutty mixture of boys and girls including 1 toddler, 1 Yr 3 and 1 Yr 6. #Parklife works for us come rain or shine. This park is the second in our new #parklife series and it's Epic. Genuine.
Kings Field Park in Hampton Wick is in the borough of Kingston Upon Thames. It's tucked away just over the river via Kingston Bridge going towards Hampton Wick and Hampton. It doesn't have it's own fancy website but it's got a lovely little cafe called
Pistachios in the Park which does. The staff here are super-friendly, offering tasty treats for chilren including some healthy ones and a home-made menu of comforting favourites like jacket potatoes and cheesy toast. They are community based and often run small family friendly events like Easter Egg Hunts and Mini Zoo Pet Handling sessions but mainly they're great for a hot drink and a snack and to retreat from the rain when you're not prepared.
The real draw here though is the recently re-designed and re-developed Skate and BMX Park. As you'd expect you'll find some big boys here but Kiddikicks Lifestyle has always found the majority to be considerate and helpful. However if early exposure to some colourful language is a family no-no, don't worry they run an
Under 10's only session on Saturday mornings between 10am and Noon. Parents can grab a coffee and watch their child zoom around the park. Helmets are recommended and wrist and knee guards too.
It's worth noting, this Skate Park requires a pass - they call it an Open Access Pass. It costs £5 and you will need a photo of your child for it. You can learn more about how to get it
here. You do need to get one if you want to use this brilliant facility.
For those not into riding curbs there are 2 tennis courts, a cricket pitch, a timber framed play area (brilliant for a work-out for parents and children), a seperate enclosed play area for pre-schoolers which is well equipped and very close to the cafe and toilet facilities.
There is also acres of flat green space for kids football, kite flying, frisbee and tag. It's not so good for hide and seek though as it's mainly a large open space with no decent hidey places! The biggest downside to this epic park is there is no free parking. Kiddikicks lifestyle does usually get a paid space on the road outside but if you can walk there we'd recommend it as it's busy with parking attendants.
We'd love to hear about your favourite park, big or small. Tell us why and where #parklife works for your family
