The best thing to do when it's raining is let it rain

Sunday Kiddikicks football saw torrents of fairly non-stop rain. As a parent of 2 sporty children and a stumbling, wobbly, just walking pre-schooler, I had no choice but to rainproof the team!
It wasn't cheap. If I had more time, it could have been cheap by going down the second-hand route on ebay or canvassing friends for old waterproofs of long grown up children. Instead we had a whole weekend of sports classes, rugby festivals and football tournaments to attend with a 7 and 5 year old plus ball obsessed toddler in tow. You know the type the ones that can't be buggy bound. We all had to be sealed from the rain!
A late Friday afternoon dash into my local rainy town centre found me meadering the rails of high street stalwards John Lewis, Millets, Cotswold Outdoor Clothing and Jo Jo Maman Bebe. The latter was by far the best for under 1's. I found attractive waterproof trousers with adjustable stirrups to keep tiny welly boots on (also available from size 3 upwards) and not falling off into the mud. Also a proper sou-wester style rain jacket with soft lining and a hood. I bought them all in the size up to make cost per wear work for my budget.
Millets was super for pac-a-mac style waterproofs (trousers and jackets for around ten pounds each) at a very cheap price and which don't take up any room in rucksacks and boot bags. These can also be bought big no problem. John Lewis was less succesful mainly becuase these types of products are now only available online as the Back to School period is over. They did have some house wellies with an agreeable style, fit and price of under ten pounds which we liked and snapped up.
Cotwold Outdoor Clothing was good for comparing brands like Kozi-Kidz and Regetta. Unfortunately they didn't have the range of sizes in stock so no purchase was made.
Suffice to say on Sunday all items were tested thoroughly in the never-ending morning downpour and I can confirm the rain was like water off a duck's back for us all!
If you haven't had the chance to invest in element protecting gear to continue enjoying outdoor activities like Kiddikicks and other #parklife hopefully this post will safe you some time and give you some ideas too.
Kiddikicks classes move indoors from the first week of November.
