Now the kids are back to school, maintaining a healthy ratio of screen time to outdoor play has slid down the list of parental worries and getting 5 fruits and vegetables a day has risen to the top!
It may be the season of the much loved apple but give pears a chance too!
This was likely one of the first tastes you gave your children as babies but somehow the humble pear is often pushed aside in favour of the buxom apple.
What makes a pear as good as an apple... pears boast more pectin than apples which means they are cholesterol busting and are able to tone intestines too! They are an extraordinary source of dietary fibre plus are jam packed with vitamin C, E, antioxidants and essential nutrients. Apparently the cooling effect of pear juice can also reduce a fever.
